The Awakening

Installation/Short Film

Directed by Marco Waldis / Written by Mattia Andres Lombardo

a short film where the artworks of the artist Alberto di Fabio become the protagonists of a journey between dreams and nature.

The Awakening is the hypothetical and imaginary rebirth of the living fossils created Di Fabio. In the motion-picture these small ancient creatures find themselves linked to the environment through invisible shapes. They arise in an unrecognisable landscape that has changed since their times and that is now inherited by humanity. A world that has no memory of a nature that is uncontaminated and pure. These entities that are at the same time abstract and real become audience of this changing world and souvenir of the harmony between planet and nature.

These new works, here exhibited for the first time, were created as naturalistic ready-made still life by Alberto Di Fabio. The artist found and collected them during his wanderings in some of the areas that also became locations for the film. These small intimate sculptures are nothing but the product of the nature.

Artefacts that could pass unnoticed but instead, thanks to the artist intervention are now entitled with a personalities.
